Centre for Education & Arts - American School in London

Whilst at Foster Wilson Architects Matthew as responsible for this project which was a major remodelling of an existing school hall to provide a new school theatre. The new theatre radically alters the space by lowering the stage level by 2.8m which allows for a steeper rake, improved sight lines, an increased capacity and focus of the room. The increased height also allows for the introduction of new technical installations, including stage suspension and a lighting bridge.

Extensive structural alterations were required to underpin the existing structure and remove columns in the stage area, along with the addition of new dressing room fascilities and a back stage goods lift.
